Mar 14 - San Gabriel

Hello All,

This week has been great! As you can see the pictures on Saturday we had a ward leadership training and we were able to talk to them about the importance of ward council and some other things. As a reward haha, we received hamburgers that were actually like the ones from the US. Usually here the hamburgers are like paper thin and not very good, but these ones were AWESOME! It has been a while, and it was worth being in the meeting ;)

This saturday we have a baptism of Jeremy. He is very excited for that day and we are also very pumped up for his baptism. He is such a great example of faith. His mother died about 2 months ago and he was really struggling with depression for a while. Then, his uncle invited him to church and he started attending. At first he didn't want to be baptized but with a little time he began to accept our lessons and we have now arrived to the great moment of baptism.!! What a blessing to be able to be one of the missionaries helping him to take these steps..

I love you guys soo much! 4 months and we will be watching tv with little caesars hahaha ! Until then Keep going strong!!!

Mar 7 - San Gabriel

Hello All,

This week has been a little crazy! Friday night we got a call from the AP that told my companion that he had received an emergency transfer. Saturday in the morning he left and I received a new companion Elder Wahl from Arizona. Something happened with his ward over there and so Pres took him and his companion out of the area. So he and Elder Guzman (my old comp) pretty much swapped places. 2 Gringos!! hahah He is awesome and we are looking forward to this new transfer.

As far as baptisms go we have four currently. Two of them are for the 19 of March! They will have their interviews with the zone leaders this week in preparation and then they will be ready! Can't wait!!

I think I forgot to tell you guys but in these last two transfers I have been serving as district leader. It's awesome, but at times a little frustrating because I don't have too much personal time to read or write in my journal. Nowadays I am too tired to do that... O well, I know that I will be blessed for what I am doing.

Also, I have been asked from members a one dollar coin, CTR rings in English, as well as my number 11 jersey with my name on it from Viewmont.. haha (they saw the video on youtube and so I thought it would be a great gift. :) If you could send these things and maybe some more little things in a package I would appreciate it!

I love you guys sooo much and a lot!!

Feb 29 - San Gabriel

Hello All,

This week we are doing great! The heat is really starting to crank up, but we are hanging in there. It is hard here because it is really hot and humid as well. I feel like I am in a sauna (haha remembering that commercial that dad likes :)). Because it is the coast it is really different than Ayacucho. There it is hot but you can't feel it as bad as here. I guess it will just take some time to get used to.

We currently have four investigators with a baptism date. Two of them are sons of a family that are inactive. The Torres family. We just found them from a reference of the ward council. They are starting to come to church again after 8 years of inactivity. It is crazy to see how much people lose when they don't attend church for a long time. We have to treat them like new investigators because they have forgotten a lot of things and their testimony is not as strong as it was before. It will be a challenge but we are helping their kids be able to be baptized on the 20th of March. This day, if it comes, will be a great day for them. It will start them on the path towards being sealed as a family in the temple. That is the real goal...not just baptisms but allowing families be in the temple.

I love you guys soooo much and a lot!!

This is a family that I had found in my first area and they weren't able to get married due to mistakes with their papers (birth certificate and everything). I found them more than a year ago as investigators and now they got married and baptized!!

Feb 23 - San Gabriel

Hello All,

This week was great! We ended the transfer with two baptisms of Irian and Xiomara. They are so great and now have the desire to go to the temple. We are going to bring them to the temple in March so that they can do the baptisms for the dead! I love the work of the temple because when we baptize someone it is not just for them, but also for their ancestors. I have been able to particpate in 23 baptisms so far in the mision, but I know that their family, thanks to the work of the temple, has also had the opportunity to accept a baptizsm as well. What a blessing to particpate in this work!!

As far as baptisms go, we are going to take a two week break and then we will have another 2 in March on the 12th. They are two kids whose uncle and aunt are members. Their mother died recently and so they have been really sad... Their aunt gave us the reference to talk with them and we were able to share with the hope that the message of the plan of salvation brings. They now have the hope that they will be able to see their mother again in the next life. They are really exctied for their baptism!

Everything is going good here in San Gabriel and we are working hard. I will continue to make you guys proud!

I love you soo much and alot!!

Feb 15 - San Gabriel

Hello All,

This past week we had the baptism of Nicolas. Our camera is not working and so I hope to be able to send you photos this next coming week. [Dad note: these pictures came from another missionary]. It was a great experience, we were able to feel the spirit and now his whole family is active and now we are going to work on helping them be able to reach the temple!

This week we have two more baptisms of Irian and Xiomara. Xiomara is finally going to be baptized!! :) She will be such a strong member and it has been truly a blessing to be one of the missionaries here to help her take this step.

All the work is going well here In San Gabriel. This week are transfers, but i am pretty sure that me and my companion are going to stick around for awhile. I have less than 5 months left!! AHHH. The time sure is flying..

I love you guys soo much and a lot!!

Feb 8 - San Gabriel

Hello All,

This week we are going to have the baptism of Brother Nicolas. I can't wait to be able to see him go into the water and make this covenant with God. He came out of his baptism interview crying haha. He confessed to the elder that he felt bad because he wasn't obeying his mom like he should have been doing. So innocent! ;) Now I can understand why in the scriptures it says that we should all become like children.. humble, meek, and willing to submit to the will of the father. After his interview he wouldn't let go of his mom haha

Everything is going good here in San Gabriel. My companion and I are working hard inviting all of the people to come unto Christ. This transfer has gone by soo fast and next thing we know we will have transfers again, but it looks like Im going to be here a while.

I love you guys soo much and a lot!!!

Feb 1 - San Gabriel

Hello All,

Everything is good here in San Gabriel.

This week that is coming we were going to have the baptism of a 14 year old young woman, but things got complicated and she will not be able to do it this saturday. She informed us that this week her mom left and told her family to tell her husband that she has another man and will never return... It is crazy some of the things that happen, but we are going to do our best to help Xiomara (thats the name of the youth) to push through this trial so that she can be baptized and recieve the blessings that our Heavenly Father has for her.

The days are sure flying by.. The other week I can't remember if I told you guys, I got a letter from the mission telling me to fill out the information for my return! haha it is a little scary. I couldn't even remember the name of our stake and so I put Farmington South (????) hahah. The days are going by fast, but also at the same time I am excited to apply everything that I have learned in the "real world".

I love you guyss sooo much and I will keep working hard and making you proud!!
