Apr 27 - Chincha

Hello,

This week has been awesome! We have been working with the Levano Family. About 4 weeks ago we were looking for a direction and we stopped to ask a mother on the street if she knew anything about the person who we were searching for. She said no, and then we asked if she would be interested in listening to our message. She said that she was baptized 7 years ago, but has been inactive. Now, we are helping their two daughters be baptized and help them get sealed in the temple. God prepares people in strange ways, but it is all good with me haha. They have been such a testimony builder for me.

I hope that you guys will continue to do well and keep going strong! I cant wait to see your faces in two weeks!! Until then I love you guys sooo much and a lot.

Hello All,

[We mentioned that we got tickets to the Stadium of Fire to see Journey this year] JOURNEY! haha it is interesting because actually a lot of people here listen to the old school rock. For example, Guns and Roses is really popular here. It is funny when we are walking and we hear a song like that. haha Its awesome!

This week has been difficult. We have people, but they are never home ugh. We have walked a LOT this week haha. Hopefully, we will be able to turn it around and be able to have more appointments and be able to help these people progress towards God.

One experience that we had was with a kid of 11 years old. We were teaching him and his mother and he talked back to her and got in a little fight during the lesson. At the end, we invited him to say the prayer and he said .. I am sorry father in heaven for fighting with my mom, please forgive me and bless her for what she does for me.. He then ended the prayer and gave his mom a hug and a kiss. It is so amazing these types of experiences with the people down here. These people truly are humble.

[We also mentioned we have a Stake Family Discovery Day this week] I hope that you guys continue to do well and have fun at the genealogy activity. I don't have the same opportunities to go to the temple as before because my area is about 3 hrs away, but we are planning a caravan over there on May 2nd. We have planned to bring 5 people to do baptisms for the dead. I love the temple and can't wait!

Love you guys soo much and a lot ,,

Hello All,

This week has been awesome! This past p day we went as a zone to a museum. It was in a place called Carmen. It was awesome to see all of the things there, especially the church chapel. The art there was amazing. I cant imagine how much time it must have taken to make all of it.

This week has been great and we have been continuing to focus on finding families. We found a family yesterday that have plans to get married and then baptized. It is such a testimony builder everyday that God is planning and preparing people to recieve the gospel. I truly know and believe that there are people here prepared for me. Now, it is my duty to be obedient and worthy to recieve them. Talk about pressure huh haha.

[We mentioned Dad will be going on a 50 mile hike with the scouts this summer] Also, dad good luck with your hikes. I still remember when you came with us when we did it a few years back. We both had blisters for a couple weeks haha.

Love you sooo much and a lot.

Hello All,

This week of conference was awesome! As gringos in our zone, we were able to watch it seperately in English. Thanks goodness! haha I can understand all of the talks in spanish, but it is just not the same. I was truly inspired and have recieved so many things that I am  going to apply here in the mission and after the mission as well.

My favorite talk was that of David A Bednar about fear. He pointed out that the first thing that happened after Adam and Eve partook of the fruit is that they were afraid and hid from God. Fear was the first consequence of the fall. If we let fear guide our lives we will never reach our potential, the which our potential is to reach exaltation and become like Jesus Christ. Fear of man slows us down, but the fear of God is something that we can use to propel us forward and become to love him. The opposite of exaltation is damnation.  We can't settle for anything less than the best, being exalted with God in his kingdom.

I love you guys so much and wish I could have been there watching conference with you guys. I can't wait to be able to all go to Granny's house and watch conference when i get back, eating cotton candy and the works. haha. Until then, I will continue to do my best as a missionary and make you guys proud.

Much love,

Elder Johnson
